Country Sweet Produce and their Bako Sweet® brand knew they had something special with their innovative, 14-ounce sweet potato steam bags.

What they needed, though, was a package design that did this fabulous new product justice. Thomas|Ferrous set out to clearly define and illustrate the benefits, convenience and function of these humble sweet potatoes.

The initial challenge was to establish a hierarchy of key communication points, with so many important things to share about this product line. We struck a delicate yet strategic balance between text, graphic icons and photography to encompass and communicate the value of these bags and their contents. Each package features health benefits, cooking instructions, nutritional callouts and recipe inspiration – and that is just on the front of the bag! To keep everything organized and cohesive, we relied on clear, simple messaging and a very consistent structure. Executing this framework across the multiple packages helps to draw attention and develop brand familiarity and loyalty, all while quickly informing the consumer what’s in it for them. 

Orange Sweet Potatoes

Bold colors paired with a substantial product window sets these packages apart on busy shelves. These bright tones also play into the upbeat personality of the BAKO Sweet® brand and allow for extension as the product line expands in both variety and package size. Photos of delicious-looking, prepared dishes are included with each variety to spark inspiration and show product versatility, with the accompanying recipes conveniently located on the back of the bag!
